Hey everyone:
Thanks you Louis for getting the word out about the NORTHERN WHEATEAR that I found this afternoon in the Scarborough Marsh. The bird was active along the western side of the Eastern Trail and working its way northward. Derek soon joined me and we watched the bird work all the way north along the trail and then head west toward the Gervais Property, accessible from Manson Libby Road by taking Southgate Road off Route 1 in Scarborough. From the Eastern Trail we could see the bird foraging in the open fields where I later heard Louis was able to relocate the bird. Taking the path from the Manson Libby Road, go south where it splits (rather than west/straight) and the bird was lingering in that field, approximately at 43.570750, -70.365000.
Here is a digiscoped shot of the bird: https://www.flickr.com/photos/dhitchcox/14106143252/
With all the craziness in Newfoundland right now (2 Common Redshanks, 11+ Northern Wheatears, 9 Black-tailed Godwits, and 182+ European Golden-Plovers) I hope we have more euro-avifauna to look forward to!
Good birding!
