Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end   time: 14:30:00
Total observation time: 6.5 hours

Official Counter:        Katrina Fenton

Observers:        Julie Krasne, Steve Barker

Visitors:
46.

Weather:
The first round of showers ended just before the hawkwatch started, and for
the first couple of hours of the count, clouds broke apart and temperatures
could rise well into the 50s. By late morning, showers began to pop up to
the south an east, and from then on the sky was a blend of sun, cloud, and
rain, mainly the latter. A rumble of thunder signaled the end of the count
for the day.

Raptor Observations:
Most migrants today came through in the morning, rising and heading out
before the day turned stormy. A few birds were on the move between showers,
and two American Kestrels closed out the count just minutes ahead of a
particularly nasty-looking batch of rain.

Non-raptor Observations:
There were 7 species of warblers among the 37 species observed, including
the first Ovenbirds and Northern Parula of the season.

Non-raptor Migrants:
Common Loon- 1         Double-crested Cormorant- 3
shorebird sp.- 1.             Tree Swallow- 17
Yellow-rumped Warbler- 59.        Palm Warbler- 1
warbler sp.- 4.                      Brown-headed Cowbird- 6
Common Grackle- 1.            blackbird sp.- 18
American Goldfinch- 3.        passerine sp.- 1

Predictions:
Dryer weather is in store for tomorrow, with partly cloudy skies and
temperatures rising to the low 60s. The wind will be out of the NNW at
10-15mph, not that great for migrants, but it is certainly better than the
easterly winds of last week.
