[Maine-birds] Continued scavenging on Flat Bay deer carcass!

It's getting to be quite a picnic out there!  At times there were 9 Common Ravens and 4 Bald Eagles feeding on the carcass and scattered remains.  There was a lot of interaction among the ravens - puffed out ruffs and belly feathers (almost like comical pantaloons!).  Lots of pecking and aggressive behavior - it was like the pages of Ravens in Winter come alive!!  Even the Bald Eagles showed poor table manners.....

Two eagles occasionally perched just below the house.  The ravens are far more circumspect and would even fly off the carcass when we went out our back door on the non-water side of the house!

Quite a spectacle!
