Yes, that's a Surfbird. That may be the first photograph of a Surfbird with a Purple Sandpiper! Rock Sandpiper and Surfbird happens all the time, but those relatively long tarsi and orangish legs put you on the right coast for those similar species.

I learned that the Surfbird was present 2:45-3:30 pm today, which was about 2 hrs after high tide. It was seen along the rocks off the tip of East Point and a bit to the "right" side (that's  the south side) about in line with the green can offshore. These birds could spread out at low tide, of course. Good luck to those searching!

Can anyone identify? There were clearly 6 Ruddy Turnstones spotted along with 2 Purple Sandpipers with it. The closest peep it resembles is a Surfbird, but that's ridiculous, right?
