[Maine-birds] WHITE-WINGED DOVE, Monhegan, 5.16.15

A WHITE-WINGED DOVE was observed and photographed today by several birders, myself alas not included, at feeders in a yard near the Ice House (yes, Doug), along with a presumably continuing BLUE GROSBEAK. The Yellow-crowned Night-heron was also seen again on the shore of the Ice Pond. (I waited to post these because I didn't want to poach on someone else's observations.)

It felt like a slow birding day here except that by the end of the day I had tallied 15 species of warbler, 61 species total for the afternoon. Other highlights for me were:

Am. Woodcock - 3 on Lighthouse Hill at dusk
Merlin - 1
Red-bellied Woodpecker - 1
Willow Flycatcher - 1
Chimney Swift - 1
Brown Thrasher - 1 at Donna's feeders
"Western" Palm Warbler - 1
Bay-breasted Warbler - 1 male
Baltimore Orioles - 20+ and...
Orchard Orioles - 3, all on Donna Cundy's feeders
Lincoln's Sparrow - 1 spiffy bird at Donna's
White-crowned Sparrow - 5+, some singing
Field Sparrow - 1
Eastern Towhee - 1 female at Donna's feeders

Looking forward to a full day birding tomorrow!
