Thank you for replying, Susan. I would have thought it was a flycatcher, too, but it had a very thin black bill. I forgot to put that in my original description.

The open branch sitting and the gray make me think flycatcher. I would check out the smallest flycatchers if you're sure of the size.
Sent from my iPhoneThis morning while walking along the boardwalk at Wells Reserve, I got a good long view of a bird that I can't identify. I'm hoping the experts out there can help.--The bird I saw was warbler-sized and drab. It had a black cap that extended down to just about the bottom of its eye. From there, its cheek, throat, chest and belly were all grayish white. It had a full white eye ring. I didn't have the greatest view of its back, but enough to know it was gray above with no wing bars. I only saw the tail from below. It was dark with a thin line of white on the edges that made me think of a gnatcatcher, which may be why the only bird I could find that matched the description was a black-tailed gnatcatcher. But that doesn't make any sense, not only because they're not around here but also because it sat on a pretty open branch for quite some time, which is pretty un-gnatcatcher like.I know I'm missing something, but I don't know what...can anyone help?
