Seasonal notes:
Echoing last week, COMMON REDPOLLS continue to be reported across the state, slightly increasing in abundance. PINE GROSBEAKS also continue to be reported wherever they can find trees with fruit remaining, including: Belfast, York, Dedham, Kennebunk, Bar Harbor, Biddeford, Scarborough, and Bath.
York County
A GOLDEN EAGLE was reported from the Sanford Sewerage District on the 14th. This site is at the end of Gavel Road, off Route 4 in Sanford. Visitation is limited to 6 a.m.-4:30 p.m. M-F and 7-8:30 a.m. only on the weekend.
The Saco Yacht Club at the end of Front Street in Saco continues to host lingering migrants, including: an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, a 'WESTERN' PALM WARBLER, the continuing NASHVILLE WARBLER was joined by a second on the 12th, and a RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET.
A SNOW GOOSE was photographed at the Tuckahoe Turf Farm in Berwick on the 13th.
On the 14th, an impressive feeding frenzy was observed from East Point Sanctuary at Biddeford Pool, highlighted by 220 BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES, a late POMARINE JAEGER, and 223 RAZORBILLS.
Greater Portland
Highlights from the Greater Portland CBC included: NORTHERN SHOVELER, five BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS, SNOWY OWL, LONG-EARED OWL, a late AMERICAN KESTREL, MARSH WREN, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT, and CLAY-COLORED SPARROW.
Two BRANT spent a few days at Kettle Cove in Cape Elizabeth starting on the 12th.
Thornhurst Farm in Yarmouth continues to host a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE, two SNOW GEESE and a high of six CACKLING GEESE on the 14th.
Midcoast
An immature SNOWY OWL was seen on Hart Island from Marshall Point Lighthouse in Port Clyde on the 9th.
Two drake BARROW'S GOLDENEYES were seen from the Sawyer Park boat launch in Brunswick.
A SNOWY OWL was on Stage Island in Sagadahoc on the 15th.
From Popham Beach State Park, an adult BLACK-HEADED GULL was seen on the 15th.
Penobscot Bay
A NORTHERN SHRIKE was reported from the Hillside Trail at the Wildlands in Orland on the 10th.
Continuing from November 28th, Maine's fourth TOWNSEND'S WARBLER continues at feeders located at the end of Kaler Street in Winterport.
Downeast
Returning for the seventh year, the HOODED MERGANSER X COMMON GOLDENEYE hybrid was seen on the 11th at the Inner Harbor in Southwest Harbor.
A hen BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was reported from Clark Cove at Mount Desert Island on the 13th.
Western Mountains
A group of six HORNED LARKS and 12 SNOW BUNTINGS were on Old River Road in Fryeburg on the 12th.
