Well the birds seemed to know that today was the beginning of count week for the blue hill christmas bird count-- we had four species in our yard that we haven't had for a while: 15 or so common redpolls, a single common grackle, a tree sparrow and a ruby crowned kinglet! Better than Christmas! The kinglet even showed me his crown. Usually it is the other way around-- the count comes around and they clear out!
