Wow!! The birds are certainly taking advantage of the food offerings in my back yard this morning. Constant activity - the best being 3 Redpolls - first I have observed on my feeders this year - do not get them every year - a nice treat to start the day. It is now almost ll:30 and all I have done so far is to enjoy the birds and taken a few photos (actually many photos - with digital cameras we can just shot away then dump most of them later! ) which I am now downloading. Not great light but good birds.
Exciting viewing when one has a hard time trying to count the number Cardinals in viburnum behind my feeders - I have 4 males and 3 females moving in and out of the bush to the feeders. Other birds: many Juncos (at least 20), 4 Tree Sparrows, 2 White-throated Sp., 8 Goldfinches, 7 House Finches, 5 Blue Jays, 5 BC Chickadees, 2 T Titmice, 12 Mourning Doves, 2 Downy and 1 Hairy WP, too many House Sparrows, and two Rock Pigeons.
Hope you are all having as good a feeder watching day as I am having and are enjoying the first real snow of the winter - at least the first here in southern coastal Maine!
Marie
