I intended to make a quick stop at the Saco Yacht Club (located at the end of Front Street) to check out the lingering warblers but the great weather, even better birds, and running into Frank and Pat resulted in spending over three hours. Here were a few of the highlights:
Greater White-froned Goose (GWFG) - two immature birds were among the Canada Geese in the river. For those playing the home game, York County Audubon has been conducting a "Quest for 300" and I believe the Biddeford Pool Cackling Goose will be number 300. So these GWFGs put the county at 301 species for the year. For more info on the quest, go to: http://www.yorkcountyaudubon.org/birds-birding/quest-for-300
Orange-crowned Warbler (OCWA) - continuing
Nashville Warbler (NAWA) - continuing on the hill beyond the treatment facility. This is easily the latest date for this species in Maine (for eBird, plus there are no CBC records) so it'll be interesting to see how long he continues for.
Other notable lingerers included: a Merlin, a Ruby-crowned Kinglet, and it was nice have a Yellow-rumped Warbler making for a three warbler day in December.
A full checklist and and photos are at:
Good birding,
