[Maine-birds] Various sightings, 12.5.12

Spent most of today birding the coast above Camden with Derek Lovitch.

Highlights included:

Winterport: both TOWNSEND'S WARBLER and Baltimore Oriole continue.
Also, several Tree Sparrows, flyover Pine Siskin; 2 Common Mergs in
river.

Off the Sears Island causeway: 2 Red-throated Loons, 6 redpolls
(flyover), Bonaparte's Gulls.

Along Route 1, East Belfast: 9 Pine Grosbeaks, including one young
male, in a crabapple

Downtown Belfast: No goldeneyes in the river of either type (not a
"highlight" per se, but more of an FYI); eagle flyover

Offshore from Howe Point, Lincolnville: dozens of Red-necked Grebes, a
handful of Horned Grebes, posturing flock of RB Mergansers, eagle
fly-over.

Harbor Park, Camden: 1 mockingbird

Great day to be out and about and test-driving a potential new scope!
