Re: [Maine-birds] Coffee and grosbeak in Gardiner

Do you think that if I tied my leftover fall apples into my  Winterberry bush I'd get some bigbeaks?  Just wondering.

There was a thread that seemed to suggest that we've had enough Grosbeak reports now.  I want to disagree.  This is my second year on the list and the reports of this irruption have been fascinating.  Keep 'em coming, please.

Walking back from getting my coffee at the Waterstreet Café on the corner here in Gardiner, I had the wonderful experience of looking up to see a female/immature Pine Grosbeak quietly and calmly feeding on crabapples on a limb over the sidewalk. I stood there quietly myself and watched as it chewed apart the apples a few feet away.
