Re: [Maine-birds] salvaging dead birds for conservation education

Hi folks,

To answer some questions sent to me last night, I'll add the following. I'd like to see valuable specimens that people find make their way into collections. That's important. A common sense rule--a "good intentions" clause--that allows people to bring dead birds to collections would help. But advocacy for change probably hasn't been loud enough. This may be in part due to the widespread perception that the rule already exists. It doesn't. I hope that better explains why I posted what I did. The scientific collections constituency is tiny but the birding constituency is huge. Think about it.
