Re: [Maine-birds] flicker explosion, Mourning Cloak migration

There were ~ 500 or beter coming off Cousins Island in Yarmouth this morning.  Tons of Swainson's Thrushes.

Derek was present. Hopefully he'll post.

Sandy Point is phenomenal in fall on good NW or N winds.

There has been a mass movement of Northern Flicker this morning.
Over 100 crossed from Frazer Point to Winter Harbor between 6:15 to 6:30 AM.
Throughout the morning along the length of the Schoodic Peninsula many more flickers are being seen.
Mourning Cloak butterflies are also migrating (yes, they do migrate); Richard Hildreth reported
counting over 100 yesterday and as the day warms up, be on the lookout for them.
