[Maine-birds] Additional Highlights This Week, 3/15-21

Hi all,

Additional Highlights for me over the past seven days included the following:

~12 Dunlin with ~8 Purple Sandpipers, off Winslow Park, Freeport, 3/15 (with Saturday Morning Birdwalk group).

- 1 pair Wood Ducks (FOY), Grist Mill Park, Yarmouth, 3/15 (with Saturday Morning Birdwalk group).

- 1 Northern Shrike, here at the store, 3/15.

- 95-100 scaup (about 80% Greater; chop and active diving made exact counts impossible), Eastern Promenade, Portland, 3/17.

- 7 1st-winter Glaucous Gulls and 21 Iceland Gulls (1 adult, 2 2nd-winter, and 18 1st-winter), Old Port, Portland, 3/17.

- 2 Turkey Vultures, Riverside St, Portland, 3/17.

- 1 continuing juvenile GOLDEN EAGLE, Bath landfill, 3/18 (with Katrina Fenton; link to photos below).

- 1 Great Blue Heron (FOY), Bradbury Mountain Hawkwatch, 3/18.

- 1 Northern Shrike, Old Town House Park, North Yarmouth, 3/20.

- 100 Common Grackles, Desert Rd, Freeport, 3/21.

- 1 drake Barrow's Goldeneye continues in the Lower Harraseeket River here in South Freeport, now most often seen upriver from the Freeport Town Wharf.
