Hi all,
I spent a wonderful - albeit windy - spring-like day today birding in the area with a client visiting from Buffalo. In addition to our "targets" (Harlequin Duck, Purple Sandpiper, and Great Cormorant), we enjoyed the following:
- scattered Common Grackles (FOY), Cape Elizabeth.
- 2 SNOWY OWLS, Biddeford Pool.
- 1 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, Wood Island from East Point, Biddeford Pool.
- 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler, East Point.
- 1 male, 2 female American Wigeons (FOS), 1 drake Lesser Scaup, and 18 Greater Scaup, Saco Rivermouth from Hill's Beach.
- 1 pair continuing CANVASBACKS, along with 12 Ring-necked Ducks, Westbrook Riverwalk.
- 1 adult Great Cormorant (unexpected bonus) and 1 1st-winter "normal Kumlien's" Iceland Gull, Riverbank Park, Westbrook.
- 50 Common Grackles, Cumberland Center and 30 on Greely Road, Cumberland.
- scattered small numbers of Red-winged Blackbirds and scattered Turkey Vultures.
-Derek
