[Maine-birds] Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, 2.1.15

My husband and I snowshoed up Beech Hill this morning on the wooded trail (trailhead on Rockville St.). Highlights:

Bald Eagle - 1 adult flying over repeatedly
Wild Turkey - 1
Ruffed Grouse - 1
Northern Flicker - 2! They have a habit of wintering over here, but I was surprised to see they were doing so *this* winter. There's plenty of berries and fruit for them, though.
Cedar Waxwing - 1

No sign of the Snowy Owl that was caught on video there by Brian Willson during Friday's snowstorm.

Also noted: A Bald Eagle (adult) perched in our Camden yard this morning before being chased by several crows upriver (we're on the Megunticook River). Probably the same one I saw from my office, upriver, during Friday's snowstorm. And yesterday a Carolina Wren--one of the pair that persists in our neighborhood--was on our suet feeder.

Enjoy the snow!
