What a day to be in my office, with the feeders just outside the window. About 50 Redpolls have been coming in sporadically, including a piebald individual who tried to fool me into thinking Hoary. A small flock of siskins came in once, but didn’t return.
Then, at precisely noon, the redpolls scattered in a panic as a Barred Owl flashed in. He didn’t grab anything, but he then went up to the nearby branch and sat in the sun. I grabbed photos of both out the window:
