Came across two groups of Bohemian Waxwings today. I found the first group on my way to the trailhead for the Presunmpscot River trail, off Curtis Rd in Portland. There were 61 Bohemian Waxwings high in a maple tree, in the yard below there was a crabapple tree. The group visited this tree several times while I counted them from the road. When I came back through an hour later after my walk along the river, the group had moved on.
-- The second group was found at the end of the parking area for the Marriott TownePlace suits in Scarborough, just past the House of Lights. This group contained 89 Bohemian and 8-10 Cedar Waxwings. The entire parking area is surrounded with crabapple trees with a lot of fruit left. With such a high concentration of food, I'm guessing they will be easy to find here.
