[Maine-birds] C. Redpoll, N. Pintail, etc.; Camden area, 3.22.15

Meanwhile, hours away from the Surfbird, my husband and I spent the day with a friend from Texas doing a Big Year. Fortunately we were at least able to find 4 Common Redpolls and 2 Pine Siskins in downtown Camden early in the day, as most birds seemed to be hunkered down in this brutal wind.

Also of interest in Camden:
-a small flock of about half-dozen each of American Robin and Cedar Waxwing
-Turkey Vulture-1
-Horned Grebe-1 in Camden Harbor
-C. Goldeneye-1

In Rockport Harbor:
-Horned Grebe-1

In Rockland Harbor:
-Surf Scoter-5
-N. Pintail-1 hen
-Hooded Merganser-1
-Horned Grebe-2

Mouth of the Weskeag River:
-Hooded Merganser-2

Also, of course: Mallard, Bufflehead, Am. Black Duck, C. Eider, RB Merganser, Long-tailed Duck in the expected places. Lots of C. Loons shifting into breeding plumage. Alas, our friend was seeking Bohemian Waxwing and Black Guillemot. I've never looked at so much Maine ocean and not seen a single guillemot!
