As of 4:30 Sunday afternoon the bird was still at the location Peter mentioned. A couple other micro-directions to add to Peter's comments -
This location would be roughly half-way between Orcutt Blvd and the eastern tip of the peninsula. And among the shrubs adjacent to the left hand (north) side of the trail Peter mentioned there is one lone short scrubby pine tree that was roughly even with the rocks where the flock was feeding. At times the Surfbird was out of view as it maneuvered around the rocks, so getting to a different viewing angle was helpful.
This was my New England total tick number #1,997 (the sum of my statelists for the 6 New England states). Three more to 2,000.
Hat's off to the folks who found this bird on Saturday!

Just to be clear, the Surfbird and Ruddy Turnstones are approx 100 yards beyond the golf course. As one walks towards Eastern Point there are shrubs on both sides of the trail. The shrubs then disappear on the right side and when I left they shorebirds were roosting on a rock along the shoreline. It's my sense that this flock has not been seen at the point so I'd start looking carefully as the shrubs disappear. Wicked cool bird. Thanks to Chris Lewey and group for the discovery.
