We have hosted Red Crossbills and even an occasional White-winged at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Connecticut on irruptive years. They frequent the Japanese Black Pines but a disease has hit these pines and they are dying. Do any of you know of native species that attract them? What habitat do the prefer in Maine? We want to be able to suggest replacement plants that won't be susceptible. Plants need to be salt tolerant as this is a shoreline park. Thanks in advance for your help.
