Bar Harbor 5/7/15
First Ruby-throated Hummingbird, a male, was sitting motionless next to one of my feeders just as it started getting light this morning. Only speculation but I think it had just arrived and was a bird from previous years and knew where the feeder was located. When Barbara Patterson was banding Hummingbirds over 20 years ago in Somesville on MDI, she had several returns of the same bird to the same feeder and always within the same week each year.
