I arrived at the Sweatshirt Shop in Wells about 8:35 AM and immediately saw one of the Dickcissels in the far bird bath near the dumpsters.
I had to wait about 1/2 an hour before I saw another, and one was in the same bird bath again. Finally, about 10:30, one of the Dickcissels was actively feeding with the House Sparrows on the ground under the tangle of vines and it was visible intermittently for 10-15 minutes until I left. All the birds were quite skittish and with the blowing winds and swirling leaves, they did not stay put for long.
I was able to get a couple photos. This was a new Maine Life bird for me, so I was patient!
