[Maine-birds] Kittery to Wells, 11/17 (King Eider, TBMU, REVI, NAWA, RAZO, RTLO migration)

Hi all,

An interesting birding day as Jeannette and I combed the coast from Kittery into Wells. Although we hoped for western vagrants and looked hard for Cave Swallow in particular, we did have some noteworthy sightings.

-drake King Eider, the Cliff house
-1 THICK-BILLED MURRE, Marginal Way, Ogunquit
-1 RED-EYED VIREO and 1 NASHVILLE WARBLER, Cherry Lane, Ogunquit
-Razorbill, scattered individuals throughout the day, most feeding close to shore (after commenting on how many Razorbills there were on such calm conditions, we spotted the murre, recent flurry of in- and near-shore alcids bear further watching)
- Red-throated Loons, heading south all day in small flocks; 50+ in water off Marginal Way
-other late migrants including Ruby-crowned Kinglet (4 total), 2 Hermit Thrushes, 2 Snow Buntings at Seapoint Beach, Kittery, 1 Fox Sparrow at Fort Foster, Kittery, also 2 Carolina Wrens at Fort Foster - fewer than usual for this route. Also Harlequin Ducks building at the usual locations led by 28 off Marginal Way.

-Derek
