[Maine-birds] Sandhill Cranes - ON THE MOVE!

Jenna Pettipas and Susan Wrisley spotted THE flock of Sandhill Cranes today....in Haverhill, MA at Kenoza Lake!!  23 birds heading south!

Some of you may remember this same flock from northern Maine last fall on Thanksgiving weekend.  Last year the flock of 24 birds was tracked through New Hampshire, Massachusetts Connecticut and Pennsylvania from 11/27/14 to 11/29/14.

Their post with photos is below.

Bradford/Haverhill, MA (Home of Kenoza Lake)

I know it is not in NH, but Susan Wrisley and I saw 23 Sandhill Cranes fly over us while we were checking out Winnekenni Castle at Kenoza Lake in Haverhill, Ma around 3:45pm. We had finished birding for the day and were interested in the castle. When we got back to the car we heard an unusual bird call/noise. We got out of the car to look around and saw this flock heading toward us. They circled once (or twice - not really sure... I was too excited) and then flew in a south/south east-ish direction.

Crane Pics:

I apologize if this post is unacceptable since it is technically Mass. but felt that it was close enough to NH border to be significant.
