[Maine-birds] id question

Just in from Dyer's Point, C.E.  Usual suspects:   eider, long-tailed duck but nice looks at harlequins and purple sandpipers on the rocks.   Razorbill as well.  One id question:   I had what looked like a black guillemot except it was light slate gray with white wing/shoulders, white underneath when it spread its wings briefly, short bill, pointed tail held up.  Eye was black against gray face.  Is this just a winter or immature bird? Thanks.
