5 Red Crossbills were with a flock of a dozen or so Pine Siskins
picking up grit along South Shore Rd., Rangeley Plantation this
morning. Also 3 Ruffed Grouse and flocks of Juncos in the general
area. More Siskins and Robins along Loon Lake Rd. in Rangeley. A drive
to Erroll, NH did not produce any Goldeneyes or C. Mergansers in the
Androscoggin River below the dam but a River Otter caught a huge fish
and proceeded to energetically tear it apart and eat it along the shore
there. 18 Purple Finch were at the house across from the pullover at
that same spot. One adult Bald Eagle was perched at Range Pond in
Poland in the 4:30 pm fading light.
