While out for an afternoon boat ride today. I noticed a small loon from the distance and asked my husband to drive closer so I could check it out. It was an adult male Red-throated Loon in breeding plumage. I first saw it about 2:25, east of the big boulders where the Cormorants roost in the widest part of Great Pond. I took a few photos then, but had to rush home for a new camera battery, he was in the same location 15 minutes later when we returned and where we left him at 3:01. He stayed up most of the time, only diving occasionally.
