As one of the other cars up there (neither Julie nor I were the double parked car) I did not see anything outside the norm happen on account of birders. Since I can't speak for any times other than while I was there I can't say what Jim has had to put up with on account of this bird. Hopefully it hasn't been as bad as it seemed.
My son and I spent about 50 minutes using the bed of my truck as an elevated platform while there and the elevation added to the visibility without having to go further in. While there the bird mostly slept but occasionally would look around and preen.
Cool bird and a great opportunity. We appreciated the chance to see it. It was a lifer for my son.
Thanks,
Rob O'Connell
Update: The landowner, Jim came out to talk with me and his primary concern is people's safety as he has several bulls on the property. In addition, a double parked car forced a school bus to drive almost into the ditch. He's a nice guy who loves wildlife. He just requests that people avoid going onto his property and that they be respectful and avoid blocking the road.Happy birding!Julue Krasne--On Tue, Aug 28, 2018, 2:09 PM Julie A. He is going to submit an eBird report with the exact location and details on the Maine Rare Bird Alert Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1526479937628399/ but I'll crosspost any updates here as well.
Good birding,
