Hi all -- Spotted my first of fall R-n Grebe at the Seawall Picnic area this morning just after sunrise. Walking west from the Campground entrance along 102A towards Wonderland is typically quiet (vehicularly speaking) and productive. Good mix of warblers, sparrows, woodpeckers along the road-side, and good blend of habitats.
-- Also wanted to add my appreciation to Nathan Dubrow out on Mt. Desert Rock, who has been spotting consistently spectacular birds for Hancock County (not to mention ~20 out to sea) and adding terrific photos to his eBird lists. I spent 6 weeks of the summer of '73 on the Rock in COA's first season of whale watching, was just beginning to love birding, and was proud if I could ID a catbird and female cowbird on my own. Nathan's taken things to a varsity level!
Cheers,
Craig K
