[Maine-birds] am. bitterns in Sidney

We seem to have two to three bitterns in the neighborhood this summer. Two just flew over our yard and one returned a few moments later. It seemed to land in the back of the hay field behind our house. Do bitterns often wander in search of food? Do they ever nest in hay fields? (I'm hoping no. I thought they were nesting in the wetland in the woods across the street--much safer.)

This is my second sighting. Earlier this week I had three fly over my head while I was out in the garden before school. It seems a little unusual for these birds to be so visible. Pretty interesting.
