[Maine-birds] Mew Gull and Pink-footed Geese seen on February 7th

Just a belated note to report that I saw the Mew Gull in Owl's Head at 8:30AM yesterday, 2/7.  It did a few fly-bys over the lobster pounds and landed briefly on the water before taking off through the snowflakes.  A second-winter Iceland Gull was also present.

I also saw the two Pink-footed Geese in Rockland at 9:30AM, 2/7.  I spotted them from Fales St (Thanks Noah!).  They were feeding with Canada Geese and Mallards at the mouth of a tiny stream below the Littlefield Memorial Baptist Church on Waldo Ave.  I parked at the church and walked through a soccer field to get a better view of the birds.

It was nice to do some birding in the midcoast and to see some birders in Owls Head on Saturday.  I made it back to Eastport yesterday afternoon.

Cheers,

Chris Bartlett
