Hi all,
I just wanted to extend an invitation to join us for the 8th Annual "Feathers Over Freeport: A Birdwatching Weekend" taking place this weekend. Our store partners with the Bureau of Parks and Lands and other supporters to put on two days of events - all free with standard park admission - to promote birdwatching for all ages and interests.
Events on Saturday are held at Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal, while Sunday's events are held at Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park in Freeport. Both days start with free birdwalks, and this year, Saturday ends with a special nighttime program with rangers and park staff at Bradbury Mountain.
Other highlights include children's bird walks and crafts, a hawkwatch workshop and vernal pool walk on Saturday, a drawing birds workshop on Sunday, and on both days: plant walks, educational displays and children's activities, and food trucks!
And as usual, both days finish up with live raptor programs. Saturday Chewonki will be presenting the "Owls of Maine," on on Sunday, the Center for Wildlife will be offering both "Raptors, Reptiles, and Mammals" and "Maine Birds of Prey."
