for anyone who wants to see Barrows Goldeyes with relative ease, Brunswick/Bath (depending on which side of the river you are looking from) there are Barrows currently on the north end of the New Meadows river (actually a tidal inlet)
Route one (the old road) north of Skillins greenhouse is the Sawyer Park boat launch/park. It's only open to foot traffic for the winter, but there is plenty of area to park by the gate. About a 2 block walk.
Or, on the Bath side, the Bull Road Road boat launch. Take Rt one, North of New Meadows Road on rt take Foster's Point Road. At T, continue onto Bull Rock Rd. It's marked. When Bull Rock starts to turn left, there is a public launch. Looks like private property because of the heavily privacy fenced adjacent property, but it is public. If you get there when there aren't any clammers putting in you can drive right to the water line.
I'm sure there are maps on eBird for this.
I saw two Barrows drakes there yesterday along with 36 Common GE, among other things. Merrymeeting Audubon CBC has had as many as 8 there previous years. That makes it almost like shooting fish in a barrel. Barrows in a barrel?
