Don Reimer saw the American White Pelican this morning about 7:40 a.m. in St. George.
Directions as before: From Rt 1 at Thomaston turn right (south) onto Rt 131. Continue 5 miles to Route 73, turn left and go 1 mile (east/north) to Clark Island Road, which is the first right. Turn right on Clark Island Rd. and drive 1 mile where you look for the Outward Bound (sailing camp) sign. Turn left there onto Marina Road (unpaved) and go to the buildings where one can see the bay. The bird was right there close to shore. Seems like a great chance to see the species at fairly close range.
Bill Sheehan agrees this is a different bird than the one that recently left the Christina Reservoir/Lake Josephine area September 5th.
Good Birding!
