Hi all,
Just a few additional observations of note from me, not previously reported here, over the past seven days included:
- 1 Snow Bunting with 30 Horned Larks, Mayall Road, Gray/New Gloucester, 11/30 (with Saturday Morning Birdwalk group).
- 2 Lapland Longspurs with 35 Horned Larks, Pearl Road and Upper Street, Turner, 12/2 (photos).
- 1 continuing female BLACK SCOTER, 41 Ruddy Ducks, 58 Greater Scaup, 46 Lesser Scaup, 1 Horned Grebe, etc, Lake Auburn, Auburn, 12/2.
- 1 Winter Wren, Harvest Ridge Road, Freeport, 12/4.
- 1 Northern Flicker, over I-295, South Portland, 12/5.
"Greater Yarmouth Goose Fields" Update:
Yay - a "good" goose! The GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE that I found on Cross Road in Cumberland on the 4th continued through week's end, the first noteworthy species of the season here. It was again off of Cross Road on the 6th (photos here: ![]()
http://www.flickr.com/photos/freeportwildbird/11239959983/in/set-72157625893018447). Canada Goose numbers are greatly diminished, with a high count of only 434 on the 4th, but obviously there are still some turnover and the hope for more goodies. Eastern Bluebirds have been frequenting the fields of the area this week as well.
