[Maine-birds] Popham Beach - Dec 30

1 RB Merganser

8 Buffleheads

48 Black Ducks gathered on open beach at mouth of Morse R.

1 Snowy Owl - perched on ridge-line of Three Herons Island (No. 2).  The numbers of Snowy Owls at Popham seem to have stabilized at one (1)

1 Ipswich Sparrow - in tiny patch of Spartina;  Most of the dune grass is crusted over

Few gulls - 5 GBB, 18 Herring

No Short-eared Owls on the marsh, but a falconer flying his Peregrine may have affected the species distribution here this morning.
