Re: [Maine-birds] Snowy at Portland Jetport @ 8:35 am

I spoke with an airport maintenance worker last Sunday, and he told me that they had trapped a Snowy Owl and transported it to Kennebunk.  I was pleased to hear that they had trapped one instead of shooting it.  I found another snowy about 5 minutes later at the Jetport.

Snowy sighted at 8:35 this morning perched on a low maintenance building near the intersection of the Jetport entrance near the I-95 exit and Rt.9 by the mall. As I turned into the entrance from Rt.9, an airport maintenance vehicle with flashing yellow light approached the bird and it flew off. The maintenance vehicle raced around the perimeter in pursuit and I wasn't able to see the outcome. Hopefully the bird is alive and well!
