Here is an update on the Golden Eagle from Avian Haven's facebook page.
Late yesterday afternoon, we admitted a Golden Eagle that had been rescued from a woods trail on Ovens Mouth Preserve in Boothbay. The bird has an elevated blood lead level and, presumably as a consequence of lead ingestion, is emaciated and severely anemic. The good news is that our x-ray reveals no metal fragments remaining in the GI tract. Our focus now is on supportive care; the bird did live the night – also good news!
