[Maine-birds] Grondin Pond casualties

I stopped by Grondin pond yesterday (12/22/13) and was saddened by seeing a Canada Goose frozen into the pond with it's head dipped down like it was feeding. I had never seen this before, but knew that this kind of thing happened. Very sad to see. There was also a dead Herring Gull at the edge of a small patch of open water that eventually floated alongside the continuing Ring-Necked Duck, 2 Lesser and 2 Greater Scaups. The latter ducks were nice to see, but the overall tone of the visit was depressing.

On a more positive note, I hope all in the birding community and their families have a safe and enjoyable holiday season!

Bird haahd,
Noah Gibb-Portland
