Wow! Thanks for all the help. I now know the name of every humpback in the North Atlantic :).
BAB[On pelagic trips I often hear of sighted humpbacks being given a name or number by the crew, based on their tail (and other?) markings. Does anyone have a notion of what information they are tapping and whether that is available to the public? This is for an illustrator friend in Europe who is doing some work on humpback whales.]
