Yesterday afternoon Jennifer and I observed a flock of 75 Bohemian waxwings in the area behind the Stop and Save. I was able to watch them socializing in several tamarack trees for about 15 minutes. They were still there when I left.
-- After the last snowstorm we had a large number of winter finches at our feeder area in Pembroke including common redpolls, pine siskins, and purple finches. A song sparrow is still a faithful visitor to the feeder. An adult Cooper's hawk has been making passes at the birds but I have not seen the hawk take any of the little guys.
Best,
