[Maine-birds] Singing White-crowned Sparrow

"Poor Will peed his pants."
That's the mnemonic for remembering the song of the White-crowned Sparrow, a bird that migrates through Maine but breeds much farther north. Ironically, it is singing vigorously outside my window right this minute at Maple Hill Farm  in Hallowell. It is also one of the starring birds in this weekend's Outdoors birding column in the Bangor Daily News.
