Birders,
Today while taking my morning walk from my house on Drakes Island in Wells, I found a Bufflehead swimming in the marsh along the north side of the beach in the area owned by Laudholm Farm next to the tern colonies. There was also an adult male Purple Martin flying over the marsh and calling. The Least Terns and Piping Plovers were numerous. While sitting and watching a Willet, a Least tern swooped out of the air and landed only about 8 feet away from me. When I looked over I noticed that the bird was sitting on a nest OUTSIDE of the roped area. Hopefully it doesn't get destroyed by careless dog walkers!!!
