[Maine-birds] Additional Highlights and Shorebird High Counts This Week, 9/12-18.

Hi all,

Some additional sightings of note for me over the past seven days included:

- 2 Peregrine Falcons among a total of 76 migrant raptors, hawkwatching from the store between 11:45 and 1:45 on 9/12 (with Jeannette).

- 1 Wilson's Warbler, a new yard bird for us in our Pownal yard, 9/14 (with Jeannette). 

- 2 Philadelphia Vireos and 100+ warblers in a Morning Flight, Merryspring Nature Center park, Camden, 9/15 (with a client).

- 1 adult Northern Goshawk, Doak Road, Belfast, 9/15 (with Kristen Lindquist and Jeannette). 

- 1 American Pipit (first of fall), Elmwood Road, Pownal, 9/17.

And most of my high counts came from my one big day on Sunday, some of my counts (and certainly the diversity) were good for mid-September, and therefore, my shorebird high counts this week were:

AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER: 2 (1ad, 1 juv), Eastern Road Trail, Scarborough Marsh, 9/13 (With Meghan Kelly and Adam Walleyn).

Black-bellied Plover: 77, Hill's Beach, Biddeford, 9/13.

Semipalmated Plover: 25, Pine Point, Scarborough, 9/13 (with Meghan Kelly and Adam Walleyn). 

Killdeer: 48, Elmwood Road, Pownal, 9/17.

AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER: 2 adults, Ocean Avenue, Biddeford Pool, 9/13.

Greater Yellowlegs: 11, Eastern Road Trail, 9/13 (With Meghan Kelly and Adam Walleyn).

Lesser Yellowlegs: 18, Eastern Road Trail, 9/13 (With Meghan Kelly and Adam Walleyn).

"WESTERN" WILLET: 2 juv., The Pool, Biddeford Pool, 9/13.

Spotted Sandpiper: 2, Ocean Avenue, 9/13.

Ruddy Turnstone: 9, Hill's Beach, 9/13.

Red Knot: 2, Hill's Beach, 9/13. 

Sanderling: 10, Hill's Beach, 9/13.

Semipalmated Sandpiper: 200+, Eastern Road Trail, 9/13 (With Meghan Kelly and Adam Walleyn).

Least Sandpiper: 40, Eastern Road Trail, 9/13 (With Meghan Kelly and Adam Walleyn).

White-rumped Sandpiper: 8, Eastern Road Trail, 9/13 (With Meghan Kelly and Adam Walleyn).

Pectoral Sandpiper: 4, Eastern Road Trail, 9/13 (With Meghan Kelly and Adam Walleyn).

Dunlin: 2 juv (first of year), Eastern Road Trail, 9/13 (With Meghan Kelly and Adam Walleyn).

STILT SANDPIPER: 2 juv, Eastern Road Trail, 9/13 (With Meghan Kelly and Adam Walleyn).

LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER: 1 juv, Eastern Road Trail, 9/13 (With Meghan Kelly and Adam Walleyn).
