This afternoon at 3:15 pm on McNiel Rd. South of Old River Rd. there
were three Sandhill Cranes. They flew off to the North across Old River
Rd. I relocated them at 3:50 pm In the field past the one house on Old
River Rd. east of McNiel Rd. They had joined a flock of nine for a grand
total of twelve. The first time I observed one was on July 11, 2011.
Over the next few years, after a slow start they increased to 9 last
year and now 12 this year. Where are they coming from? We have not been
able to find any nesting in this area of Oxford County. Does any one
have any idea where they are coming from?
