Thanks, Peter. And just to give credit where it's due, this was an interesting and long thread on the Frontiers of Field Identification listserv, where there was a lot of back and forth on the topic of counting flocks. The link is to Martin Reid's website, where he assembled this estimate-but-verify sequence of images.
