[Maine-birds] Yellow-breasted Chat, Sears Island, Waldo County, 9/19

Hi everyone,

While birding Sears Island this morning, I ran into a Yellow-breasted Chat on the southern end of the island. It briefly posed in some fallen branches along the Blue Trail, which connects the gravel tower road with the coastline. Consistent with this species' typical habits, it didn't stay in the open long, or even in the spot very long - I lost it after about 20 seconds and couldn't relocate it.

Birding in general was good this morning with decent numbers of warblers piling up at the beginning of the causeway and making the jump to the mainland. It was also fun to watch the eiders and guillemots in the bay. A Solitary Sandpiper and Spotted Sandpiper were the only shorebirds I detected.

Good birding!
