The Brunswick-Freeport CBC was held Sunday, Jan. 3. The south-west half of the circle, aka "The Bean Count" tallied 68 species.
Birds of some note seen included
· 3 Northern Shovelers Maquoit Bay
· 1 Northern Pintail Maquoit Bay
· 1 American Widgeon Maquoit Bay
· Two large rafts of diving ducks were noted from Maquoit Bay: 530 Scaup, sp., and a raft of mixed Scoters including 515 Surf, 135 White-winged, and 75 Black Scoters were notable.
· 2 Snowy Owls hunting at dusk at Brunswick Landing
· 1 Short-eared Owl also at dusk at Brunswick Landing
· 1or 2 Merlin-spotted at two locations, possibly same bird-and a first for the circle
· 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet in Brunswick
· 1 Pine Warbler near Wharton Point
